A fun weekend ahead

Get ready! Beloiter Days, our combined homecoming and reunion extravaganza, is this weekend, Friday through Sunday.

Hundreds of alumni, families, and friends of the college are expected. You may meet them in a class, in Commons, at the Homecoming Tailgate, or just around campus. Take some time to connect with your fellow Beloiters!

Check out the Beloiter Days schedule to see what’s happening. While some of the events are for specific audiences, many are open for anyone on campus to attend and participate. 

Be sure to join in all the fun on Saturday afternoon and evening, as we come together:

DK’s Café: coffee is brewing, and furniture is on the way!

Big things are happening at DK’s Café!

  • Sept. 9-10: Furniture installations while the Bon Appétit team puts the finishing touches on the kitchen.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 11: The coffee side will officially open, featuring espresso drinks, smoothies, grab-and-go items, and a 3-7 p.m. snack menu.
  • Sept. 11-13: Regular hours will be 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 18: Full food service is planned to start.

Sports recap

Women’s volleyball captured their first victory of the season with a 3-2
road win against Alverno College. Freshman setter Selin Tufte’28
led the way with a record-setting performance, breaking the
single-game ace record with 10 in only her second collegiate game.

Football opened their season with the second annual “Battle of the
Rock River” against their interstate rivals, Rockford University. They
lost the matchup 43-17. The Homecoming Game will be played this
Saturday at 6 p.m. at Strong Stadium with the Buccaneers taking on Knox.

Women’s soccer had two road matchups this week. They faced off against
Benedictine University on Wednesday, where they drew 1-1. The team
lost their weekend matchup against Saint Mary’s University (Minn.),
3-0.

Men’s soccer also had two games this week. Their weekday road game at
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater ended in a 7-0 loss. Their Sunday home game against Anderson University (IN.) was a tight game as the Bucs fell 2-1.

Just five years after graduating from Beloit, Michael “MJ” Strawbridge’19 is preparing for his first semester as a tenure-track assistant professor of political science at Washington University in St. Louis. A scholar on Black identity and its intersections with politics and mass media, MJ began his academic journey in the McNair Scholars Program.

Be a part of the Homecoming Parade

All clubs, organizations, Greek life, and teams are welcomed to sign up for the annual homecoming parade on September 14. A prize will be given to the best float or group. Please register your group to participate.

Register for the Involvement Fair

Student clubs and organizations: register for a table to present your group at the Involvement Fair on September 18.  The deadline to register is Sunday, September 15 at 4:00 p.m.

Volunteer for the Rock River Cleanup

Join multiple Wisconsin communities in preserving and protecting local water resources on Saturday, September 21 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Register to be a volunteer. Free t-shirt provided.
